Nanyang Technological University (NTU)

Inter-Departmental Exchange Agreement signed in 2017
Affiliation: College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, School of Art, Design and Media

Nanyang Technological University was established in 1991 as Singapore’s second national university. The College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences has about 5,000 students and faculty members. The School of Art, Design and Media, with which we are particularly interested in exchanges, belongs to the College and is established in 2005. The School of Art, Design and Media is the only School of Art and Design in Singapore’s National Universities and has about 700 students. There are two courses in the School of Art, Design and Media: Design Art with three majors in Interaction Design, Product Design and Visual Communication, Media Art with four majors in Digital Animation, Game, Digital Filmmaking, and Photography & Digital Imaging. Classes are mostly studio work and small group practical education. This course is unique in that it offers a good education in animation. In addition, the instructors are international, and all classes are taught in English. The multicultural environment of the university is an excellent stimulus for students to learn about art and design.

The experiences of studying at NTU will definitely be different and enriching. You can find out more from our student, Tamaki Kobayashi, who went to NTU for one year of exchange recently. There are also similarities between Singapore and Fukuoka. Check it out from the exchange student, Daniel Toh, from NTU, on sharing his experiences of Fukuoka.
