My Favorite Place on the Ohashi Campus

What would you think of first when asked about where you feel most comfortable on the Ohashi campus? For me, it must be the passageway when you walk through the campus. I love the passageway and the landscape most on the Ohashi campus, not only for the beauty of its construction but also for the calm and peace that it provides.

Every time I walk into the campus, the scene consists of the fountain and the huge iconic tree, making me feel very tranquil. In the summer season in Fukuoka, the humidity and the heat really make people feel very uncomfortable. But with the water gushing out of the fountain into the high sky, it is like a water firework that can be seen in the daytime. You know, that’s a totally special experience, different from the night one. It’s kind of like the water refreshes our minds, flooding out any anxiety or sadness.

Also, it is known that trees are very beneficial for human beings, whether it’s for physical or mental health. First, the campus makes it much easier for us to access nature because of these greeneries. Then, its strong vitality will add some steady beliefs to touch our hearts that life is so beautiful that we should be grateful for what we have in our lives. I also want to mention that if you sit on the bench under the tree, it’s like enjoying a sunshine shower. It is so comfortable, like having a meditation.

Above all, the Ohashi campus of Kyushu University is a campus that feels welcoming for international students. It is very suitable for studying, learning, and living. The international students here are well educated and supported by the professors as well as the staff. Do join us and experience it for yourself!

About the Writer
I am Jiang Moyou, a third-year student in the doctoral course. I’m from Heilongjiang province, the northeast of China. I love music, movies, dramas, and especially Japanese animations. And that’s why I started to learn Japanese and came to Geiko as an international student. I’m also learning English and Korean because I think it is really fun to know other countries’ cultures through their native languages. Of course, the delicious local food always makes me feel very satisfied! I’ve already lived in Fukuoka for almost five years. If you have any problem with living or studying, please feel free to contact me anytime!
