By taking French project classes, I learned and relativized the differences between Japanese attitudes toward architectural design and urbanism. The educational policy is completely different from that of Kyushu University. It is based on realistic design planning and tenacious research, so it was impressive to learn many practical things.

In addition, the libraries and museums in Paris have extraordinary collections, and there is a lot of literature available, which is ideal for research and study. There are also many contemporary architectures in the city and suburbs, which I visited and toured many times.

I had the impression that France has more English speakers than any other European country. Because of the large number of international students from outside the country, many of them (depending on the class) spoke relatively good English, and I had no problems in my daily life without using French. I think that it might have been a good learning experience if I had studied French more consciously and engaged in daily conversation.

In France, receiving rent assistance from CAF is possible, but the procedure is complicated. And even if it is a hassle, it is recommended that you work on it as soon as possible, because you will not receive the rebate immediately after completing the application. Another drawback is that in most cases after the application is completed, the rebate will not be paid until you make a request. However, since you can get a subsidy of almost half of the rent, you should definitely apply for it.

The good thing is that there are many international students at La Villette in Paris, so you can get to know students from many countries, not only France. Of course, that includes Japanese.

I think it will be a good stimulus for students in Kyushu who do not have easy access to universities in the Kansai and Kanto regions. Every day during your stay in Japan will fly by quickly, so I recommend setting your goals for your classes, architecture, and friendships in advance. I know there will be hardships, but I hope you enjoy yourself.
