Prospective students

Kyushu University offers scholarships for students who are planning to study with us. Currently, Kyushu University provides two types of scholarships. One from the Japanese Government Scholarship (Monbukagakusho Scholarship) and the other for the privately funded international students.

The Japanese Government Scholarship is provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Please refer to “Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship” on Kyushu University Global Gateways for more information.
Scholarships for privately funded international students are offered by private foundations and other organizations coordinated by Kyushu University. Please refer to the list of scholarships on Kyushu University Scholarships for Privately Funded International Students. Applications can be made through the student affairs office of your faculty or directly to the foundation. The list of scholarships provides details of how to apply and deadlines for applications.

Many scholarships take between six months and a year to apply for. If you are considering applying for a scholarship, please do so as soon as possible.

Please note that, except for a few scholarships, it is generally not possible to apply for more than one scholarship at the same time.
