Prospective students

Laboratory Affiliation

At the School of Design and Graduate School of Design, it is a requirement for the 4th year undergraduate students and the graduate students for the Master and Doctoral course to join the laboratory of the academic advisor of their choice to research their thesis. In the laboratory , students will be engaged in experiments, fieldwork, seminars with their supervisor and fellow laboratory members, community outreach, etc.

Every laboratory is different and has different cultures. The academic supervisors also differ in their pedagogy and instructional approach. It is essential for students to find out more about the academic supervisors and the laboratories through the Faculty website and communicate with them to determine their preferred research topics and style of instruction.

For the international student planning to enroll as a regular student or research student to the Graduate School of Design, you will need to select the laboratory in advance and get in touch with the academic supervisor by email to discuss your research interest. For research student, you can only proceed with the application when the academic supervisor has agreed to accept you in the laboratory.

For exchange students, you should discuss this with your supervisor at your university before applying.
